Can anyone help me out?Įdit: In case anyone was wondering, the AVP used is MSE and the last update to be suceeful on this laptop was Hotfix for Windows KB981889 which was done on, which is odd since I do not remember running WU yesterday.

"Windows could not start the Software Licensing service on Local Computer. When trying to start the service, it says: They all say to make sure it is set to automatic, which it is, and to start the service it is shows up at stopped. I tried to solve this problem myself by looking it up and they all say to go into Services and enable. YEESH.Īnyways, upon launching WU, it will scan and give the error code 80070426. It also appears Windows Update has not been run of over 2 years. This laptop seems fine now, but there appears to be traces of the malware that has been left behind. There were loads of malware that I had to fix and a lot of stuff to clean. I am trying to fix up my cousin's computer and boy was it mess.
